Alessandro Gabbana was born in 1990 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. He graduated from the University of Ferrara (Italy), with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He continued his studies at the University of Umeå (Sweden) with a Master in computational science and engineering. In his Master thesis he has been working on a multi-GPU implementation of the D3Q19 Lattice Boltzmann Model.
His current research interests lie in the field of High-performance computing, in particular in the evaluation of new highly parallel computing architectures for the solution of computational physics problems.
Alessandro has been selected for the position of ESR 1 with joint degree awarding institutions Università degli studi di Ferrara (UNIFE) and Bergische Universität Wuppertal (BUW). The project entitled "Optimized implementations of the Lattice Boltzmann Method in 2 and 3 dimensions on highly parallel computing devices" is supervised by Prof. Raffaele Tripiccione and Prof. Matthias Ehrhardt.
